Who I Work With

You may be finding yourself here because something in life no longer feels the way it used to.

Life experiences can continue to affect us long after they have happened. Sometimes their impact is obvious, and sometimes they quietly shape the way we think, feel, relate to others and see ourselves.

You do not need to have the right words before coming to counselling.

Sometimes simply knowing that things do not feel the way they used to is enough. You may recognise some of these experiences:

  • You hold everything together for everyone else, but when the day finally becomes quiet, everything you have been carrying catches up with you.
  • Your mind replays conversations or memories long after everyone else has moved on, making it difficult to switch off.
  • You find yourself apologising, doubting your own thoughts or wondering whether your feelings are valid.
  • Looking after other people has become so familiar that recognising your own needs feels difficult.
  • Letting people in does not come as easily as it once did, and keeping your distance can sometimes feel like the easier option.
  • You no longer feel like yourself and wonder where your confidence, voice or sense of self has gone.
  • Shame, guilt or self-blame have become heavy things to carry.
  • Deep down, you long to feel calmer, more connected and more like yourself again.

If these experiences feel familiar, counselling can offer an opportunity to understand them, explore what they mean for you and reconnect with yourself.

Areas I work with

Childhood Trauma

Sometimes the experiences we have growing up continue to influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us.

You may have learned to stay strong, put everyone else's needs first or believe that asking for help was not safe. These ways of coping often developed for a reason and may have helped you through difficult experiences, even if they no longer support the life you want today.

Counselling can offer space to gently explore these experiences, understand the impact they may have had and reconnect with the person you are beneath the experiences that have shaped you.

Domestic Abuse

Living in a relationship where you have been controlled, criticised or made to doubt yourself can leave lasting effects long after the relationship has ended.

You may find that trusting your own judgement no longer comes easily, or that you second-guess your thoughts, feelings and decisions.

Counselling offers a space where your experiences can be explored with care, respect and without pressure, helping you reconnect with your own voice and sense of self.

Sexual Trauma

Experiences of sexual trauma can affect the way you see yourself, your relationships and your sense of safety in the world.

You may carry emotions, memories or questions that feel difficult to put into words. There is no expectation to talk about anything before you feel ready.

We can move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, creating space where you can explore your experiences, feel understood and begin to reconnect with yourself.

Loss of Identity

Over time, difficult life experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from who we are.

You may look in the mirror and wonder where the confident, hopeful or carefree version of yourself has gone. It can feel as though you have spent so long getting through things that you have lost sight of the person you are beneath everything you have experienced.

Counselling offers an opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself, your values and what matters most to you.

Anxiety, Self-Esteem and Life Changes

Life does not always change overnight. Sometimes it is a gradual feeling that something is not quite right anymore.

You may find yourself overthinking, struggling to relax, doubting yourself or feeling emotionally exhausted from trying to keep going.

Counselling can offer a calm space to understand yourself more deeply, explore what may be contributing to these feelings and begin moving towards a life that feels more connected and true to who you are.

If you are unsure whether counselling with me is the right support for you, you are welcome to get in touch. We can have an initial conversation about what has brought you here and whether my approach feels right for your needs.
